Bidding Process

The sequence in which providers apply for a contract.

Definition

The bidding process describes the path from receiving a tender to submitting the final offer. Typical stages are reviewing the documents, clarification questions, filling in questionnaires, pricing and submission. For public tenders the process is formally regulated; for private ones the buyer designs it themselves. Each stage has its own deadlines, and missing one leads to exclusion.

was für Dienstleister bedeutet

For providers, the bidding process is a race against time and against the competition. The biggest time sink is rarely the pricing, but gathering the required information from across the company. Whoever misses deadlines or submits incomplete work is out, no matter how good the offer is on the merits. And because the required details are so similar across tenders, the same work is done again and again.
