Supplier Evaluation

The systematic assessment of providers against fixed criteria.

Definition

In supplier evaluation, a company measures its providers against fixed criteria, often using a scoring or traffic-light system. Typically assessed are quality, delivery reliability, price, information security and compliance. The evaluation happens both before selection and continuously during the partnership, and feeds into decisions on renewal or switching. In regulated industries it's part of outsourcing and risk management.

was für Dienstleister bedeutet

For providers, supplier evaluation decides whether they win the contract and keep it. The problem: the customer evaluates what they see, and often only sees what's delivered fast and complete. Whoever answers questions on security, quality and references promptly and with evidence scores better, regardless of how good the actual work is. Whoever answers hesitantly or with gaps loses points that have nothing to do with performance.
